‘10K?  But you’ve done 21K last year!’

Precisely because I’ve done half marathon before, that’s why I’m doing 10K this time!  I now know how much time commitment is required in training for half marathon, but I have better things to do (so yes, not willing to spend that much time on running!).

10K, But

I’m truly excited because:

  • I’m doing it together with the others (no longer the crazy woman running on her own)
  • We’re even fundraising together!

Training Proper

I thought I’ll train properly this time so avoiding injuries.  Apparently you’re supposed to do core training, stretching, and cross training too – not just running.  So I did.

A marathon runner friend asked how my training was going and I said,

‘Oh yes, I’m going to swim on Mon,’

he looked confused and said, ‘Why are you swimming?  I thought you’re training for a run..?’

‘But I’m supposed to do cross training’

‘No you’re not, to train for a run, you run!  What are you doing on Tue?  Taking a tram??’

My colleague AY convinced me to join a gym a few months ago and after trying different things, we like the shower the best (although the Jacuzzi is quite nice too!).  I wouldn’t choose to go to a class as I think they’re noisy, but now I actually do because I’m taking this training plan seriously!
